One down and in search of two more

Coming
off the bench and hitting against Chad Bradford (which Anderson
did in the eighth) is one of the toughest at-bats you can have. Honestly,
you’re almost begging for [Grant] Balfour to come out.

Balfour
is a tremendous pitcher and he throws really hard. But I think if any hitter
had to choose, they’d choose a guy who throws hard as opposed to a guy who
looks like he’s dragging his fingers on the ground every time he throws. I
expect to go out there and get a hit every time, but I also understand that
when a guy has had the success that he’s had and pitches from that arm angle -
not so many guys are gonna be able to square up the ball on him.

Yea,
I don’t think anybody in the big
leagues
will come off the bench consistently and square it up
every time. It’s tough. But I cant complain. This is what I’m doing and I don’t
think anyone expects me to go up there and hit a home run or drive the ball
every single time, especially under the circumstances. But my job right now is
to play defense the best I can, do what I can to help the team, and if I can
come up and have a good at bat, then I’m happy.

When
did I think we had a chance to win this one? Well, when we got back on the
board, obviously you gotta score a run to win the game, but that one inning, Dewayne Wise‘s
ball that he hit down the line. It was a good job of hitting and it really gave
us momentum and carried us through the game.

I
hope no one gets offended, because it’s not meant to be offensive, but I really
do call him the black Ross Gload. He’s the African-American Ross
Gload, there you go. Ross Gload is so versatile and he’s such a great hitter.
But a guy like Dewayne Wise, you’re almost in awe, wondering why this guy is
not playing everyday somewhere. This guy was about to go play Independent ball
and he’s helping us win postseason games.

Especially
I the last inning with Bobby [Jenks] throwing, I had a chance to check out the
crowd. I was thinking to myself, ‘I wonder if I can make a request to the
people directly behind the plate in the first 5 or ten rows to not do that
[wave the white towels] so I could see the ball off the bat. But more times
than not, it helps the team.

Thank you Brian for blogging so quickly after that win. Congrats on the win and good luck in the next two games.

No need to be PC with Sox fans Brian. You should inquire with someone about the towel waving behind home plate when you’re in the field. I’m sure they could help you out with that.

What a great game! I knew you guys could do it. I’m so happy you won today because that means I get to see you play tomorrow! I’m sure Gavin will have another great game and the bats will keep things going so there will be a game five down in Florida. I’m bringing my black towel from the tie-breaker game for good luck.

GO GO WHITE SOX!!

Wow…it’s the first time I’ve seen your blog, Brian, and I’m very excited to read your comments. It’s always a relief to see you come into a game, whether it is in the outfield or running the bases. Keep it up!!

Invite me out for a beer with you, AJ, JD, Buehrle, Carlos and Swish and I’ll take care of those towels. Deal?

Thank you for the quick post, Brian! And thanks to all the team for the great win today! Two more like today, and who knows, you may go all the way!!

Would you (and the rest of the Sox) rather face the Angels or the Red Sox in the ALCS? Just curious as to how you feel about that.

Go White Sox!!!

-Peggy

Hope your mom liked Chicago! That’s so nice of you to give her the card. =)
Now I didn’t get a chance to see the game, sad, because I was at work. I heard everything that happend though and I’m SOOO happy for you guys! I was cheering when I was putting stuff away and customers kept looking at me. Oh well. Keep up the Amazing playing, YOU CAN DO IT!

Awesome win all around — keep the momentum up for tomorrow !!! I agree with you that Dewayne Wise is playing some good ball. I have renamed him “Captain Clutch”. At this point in the series you all have proved yourself big winners by just taking this one game. Several sports magazines and many special analysts predicted you all to finish 3-4 in the central division. You all didn’t meet that expectation , you exceed it !!!! Play great tommorrow and thanks for keeping us informed !!!

Great game…hoping you guys can keep it up…we’re all pulling for you guys…keep it up

GO SOX!!!!!!

Whats up BA, its jimmy from charlotte. You are the man. Sorry we didnt talk more but those guys were crowding around fast, and it got sort of awkward. I tried calling some people and getting your number but no luck. Good luck tomorrow dude. Keep in touch.

Good job yesterday (yourself included)!

You may not think anyone expects you to do much when you come in to hit, but a lot of us do. You keep showing that you can contribute in so many more ways than just with the bat. Your defense is great, your baserunning is just as good and I think if you’re given consistent playing time, your hitting will come around (you’ve proved that already this season). Whenever (or wherever) it may be, I wish you nothing but the best.

Keep up the good work; yourself and the team. :)

I love your blog Brian, and am always really happy when you’re playing! I can’t wait for you to be an everyday starter, and after seeing you play at Arizona and in spring training, and following your progress in the Farm System, I know that day is rapidly approaching! I know you guys are going to get on Sonnanstine tonight, it’ll be my 5th game in 9 days, and I know you’ll be bringing another W and putting the pressure on the Rays, cowbells and all. Go get em!

Brian,

I love the use of the third person, but I think you should call yourself The Anderson instead of Anderson. Keep up the good work and bring us home a winner, I need more cowbell!!!

Dan

LET’S GO WHITE SOX! THE 2 NEWEST SOX FANS ARE CHEERING YOU GUYS ON!!!

I love the fact you’ve been blogging every postseason game. It lets the fans know actually how you are feeling, and what you think of the game and lets us know that your actually a NORMAL person! I hope you guys win tonight!! I really wanted that red line world series . I dont know where I heard it but I know it came from you, and you’re like “yeah if it was cubs vs white sox world series that, chicago would burn down “haha. I cant see chicago burn down but I could see a LOT of craziness . But, as we can tell, the cubs could not handle the high expectations, I was actually at the cubs rally at the Daily Plaza, I attend UIC, so all my friends thought it be fun to go check it out. I think they just went slightly overboard on the whole “this is our year” and the fact that the cubs cant handle playing under pressure whereas, you guys are pretty good under pressure. I should probally stop talking about that since I’ll probally jinx it for us. But cant wait for the next blog!! Im one of your biggest fans in Chicago!! So when I came upon this im like OMG ITS BRIAN ANDERSON! I made my own Brian Anderson #32 shirt since I couldnt find one in the store, which I seriously looked everywhere I could not find a BA shirt. I should complain, but I wear the shirt to every white sox game. My friend insisted on buying me a Pierzynski shirt but i refused it. (by the way what’s up with Pierzynski’s hair?) But one day im gonna meet you and your going to sign my original ba shirt and your probally going to think think wow! this girl is crazy!haha

well GOOD LUCK TONIGHT BRIAN!!!!
make another outstanding catch!!

of course im rooting for you in my BA shirt! :)

Hey Brian, I just wanted to say thanks to you and all the White Sox for a great season. You exceeded the critics expectations and definitely met most of the fans’. I really hope to see you get the starting role in centerfield next year. You had a great spring and provided a lot of spark coming off the bench and your defense is outstanding. Have a great winter and see you in AZ next spring!

Thank You so much for blogging about your experiences !! No one expected the White Sox to even get to the postseason !! It has been a great year full of ups and downs , but indeed VERY ENJOYABLE. Enjoy your off season rest , relaxation , and rejuvenation —
